With the recent death of Google Reader, many people used to the clean, no-frills, off-line web content reader were wondering how they would continue to get all of their RSS-goodness.  Google Reader in many ways drove out some competition because it was free, handled RSS as well as it did, and was, let's face it, from Google.

Now that its gone, people are looking for an alternative, and it may be closer than you think. FeedDemon is an RRS for Windows that does just about everything that you could want in an RSS app.

FeedDemon a popular RSS reader.  It has an easy-to-use interface, allowing you to stay on top of news, reviews, and other syndicated content.  You can assign your own keywords to items, making it easy to classify and locate articles you've previously read. FeedDemon also lets you know when your keywords appear in any feed you're subscribed to.  You can get alerted when your keywords appear in any feed, regardless of whether you're subscribed to it or not FeedDemon is also a cool podcast catcher and will automatically download audio files and copy them to your iPod or other media device.

FeedDemon's "My Stream" provides a way to quickly receive and view new articles in the feeds you consider to be the most important. Feeds added to your stream are displayed in a sidebar and checked for updates more often than any others.  If you're looking for quick updates from Twitter, or Facebook for example, FeedDemon is a great tool to do it with.

Conclusion: FeedDemon is a cool RSS Reader. It can handle a lot of syndicated content, allowing you to read it on or offline at your leisure.  The biggest problem with the app, however, is that it was discontinued as of June 2013. There won't be any updates to the software.  Provided that content can still be captured in RSS format, you shouldn't have a problem. However, if you bump into trouble, don't go looking for support.
